Nissan-Montagewerke
Eines der wichtigsten Unternehmen in Europa, das Almera herstellt, ist ein Werk in England in der Stadt Sunderland. Als Anfang der 80er Jahre Werften und Kohleminen im Nordosten Großbritanniens schlossen und die Arbeitslosigkeit stark stieg, beschloss die damalige Regierung, mit Japan zusammenzuarbeiten. Nissan Motor Manufacturing in Sunderland beschäftigt 4.000 Mitarbeiter und feierte 2004 seine erste Million Fahrzeuge.
The Cedric is a mid-size car, the result of a huge effort by the company. It represented the embodiment of the latest Japanese technology of the time. At the time, Japan's largest mid-size car, the model featured a spacious interior and comfortable handling that was typical of large sedans. The sumptuous body of the Cedric was adorned with twin headlights, and with impressive performance, fuel consumption was as low as that of a small car. The Cedric was exceptionally durable and equipped with state of the art equipment. At the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Nissan Cedric was chosen as the vehicle that carried the Olympic Flame from Greece to Japan.
In September 1963, the start of production of the second generation Skyline was announced, and in November 1963 the car appeared on the Japanese market. This model has gained fame as a small, comfortable family car, simple and reliable to drive and maintain.
1960 wurde ein neues großes Automodell, der Nissan Cedric, entwickelt. Der Name des Autos wurde zu Ehren des Protagonisten der berühmten Geschichte Little Lord Fauntleroy geprägt, die auf der ganzen Welt gelesen wird.
Der Bluebird von 1959 und der Cedric von 1960 eroberten die Herzen japanischer Käufer und beschleunigten den Motorisierungsprozess in Japan.
Von Anfang an baute Nissan die Produktion im Ausland auf und ergriff 1959 die Initiative zur Errichtung eines Montagewerks auf Basis von Yulon Motor Co., Ltd. in Taiwan; 1961 organisierte sie Nissan Mexicana, SA de CV und Nissan Motor Manufacturing Co. in Australien.
