В 1974 году было объявлено о продаже 10 000 внедорожников Nissan Patrol за год. В конце 1970-х годов компания утвердилась на рынке внедорожных автомобилей.
В 1981 году Nissan начал продвижение своих автомобилей по всему миру под маркой Nissan, что стало частью новой корпоративной стратегии компании. Затем в 80-х гг. Im Jahr 2002 erhielt Nissan zum vierten Mal in 10 Jahren den renommierten Red Dot Award für High-End-Design vom deutschen Designzentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen. Diese jährliche Auszeichnung wurde dem neuen Nissan Primera in den Jahren 1993, 1996 und 2002 verliehen.
Im Jahr 2002 wurde Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. und die Dongfeng Motor Corporation unterzeichneten eine strategische Partnerschaftsvereinbarung in China. Das neue Unternehmen erhielt den Namen Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd.
Im März 2003 wurde der neue Nissan Micra mit dem European Automotive Design Award 2003 ausgezeichnet.

On the Japanese islands in Yokohama, the headquarters of the Nissan concern is located, design solutions are being developed in the capital of Great Britain, and the design and implementation of new Nissan models is being carried out at the English research center Cranfield. Factory facilities for assembling new cars are also located in the United Kingdom, in the city of Sunderland, its seaport, which is very convenient for deliveries to the USA and European countries.
